Mir Raza's father demands justice as police defend probe

The father of Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali has expressed deep dissatisfaction with the police investigation into his son's death, questioning why authorities were focusing on other aspects of the case instead of probing what he described as a murder.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Mir Hussain Ali alleged that the past 10 days had been marked by attempts to distort facts and damage the reputation of his son and family, while little attention was being given to finding those responsible for his death.

"Why is no investigation being conducted into my son's murder? Who is being protected?" he questioned, adding that authorities had neither sought complete details about his son from the family nor properly investigated the circumstances surrounding his death.

The father rejected the police theory that financial difficulties or business-related stress could have led to his son's death. He questioned why, if Mir Raza was under pressure due to investments related to Wafflix, his business partner Ahmed and elder brother Abdullah, who handled financial matters, were not facing similar pressure. Mir Hussain criticised the handling of the post-mortem process, saying that state authorities and police should have been present when the examination was conducted at Jinnah Hospital. He questioned why Medico-Legal Officer Dr Osama Sheikh did not share the post-mortem findings with senior officials.

He alleged that important details were missing from the post-mortem report and claimed that the direction of the bullet had been wrongly described. According to him, the report suggested the bullet entered from the front, whereas his son had been shot from behind.

The grieving father also raised questions about the crime scene, saying no blood was found at the location where his son's body was recovered despite the fatal gunshot injury. Meanwhile, IG Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho said police would soon present "all facts" of the case, adding that the future direction of the investigation would depend on the findings of the medical board.

Speaking to reporters at City Courts, he said investigators had fully traced the case after extensive efforts.
