Somali defence minister meets CDF Munir, lauds armed forces role in promoting regional peace, stability

Both sides underscore the importance of deepening military-to-military ties: IPSR

Somali Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi praises the Pakistan Armed Forces' role in promoting regional peace and stability in a meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), a high-level delegation from the Somalia, led by defence minister called on CDF Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

“The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support and the professional role played by the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability,” said the ISPR.

The statement said that both sides underscored the importance of deepening military-to-military ties and capacity-building initiatives to counter common security challenges.

“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and measures to further enhance bilateral defence and security cooperation were discussed,” it said.

It added that the CDF Munir reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to supporting Somalia in strengthening its security apparatus and fostering enduring peace in the region.

Last month, Member of the House of Representatives (State of Montana) Ryean Keith and Member of the House of Representatives (State of Washington) Michael James visited Pakistan and acknowledged Islamabad's role in promoting regional stability and economic resilience in a meeting with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The US delegation thanked military leadership for its hospitality and expressed a shared commitment to strengthening economic, commercial and institutional ties between the United States and Pakistan.
