Michael B Jordan surprises viral 'granny' with heartfelt FaceTime after family photo prank
Actor also sent personalised jewellery after viral clip caught attention, creating lasting bond with Oklahoma family

Michael B Jordan has turned a light hearted internet joke into a genuinely heartwarming story after surprising an 89 year old woman whose playful family prank captured millions of views online.
The Oscar winning actor recently FaceTimed Mary Story, a grandmother from Tulsa, Oklahoma, after she went viral for displaying a framed photograph of Jordan among pictures of her real relatives. When family members questioned the unfamiliar face on the wall, Story jokingly claimed the actor was her grandson, sparking widespread amusement across social media.
The viral moment first gained attention in May after Story's granddaughter, Natalie Sims, shared a video of the family photo display. The clip attracted around 1.7 million views, with viewers charmed by Story's unwavering insistence that the Hollywood star belonged in the family portrait collection.
Rather than simply acknowledging the viral moment online, Jordan chose to reach out personally. During the FaceTime call, he thanked Story for the affection she had shown him and expressed his appreciation for being welcomed into her family's collection of treasured photographs.
"Thank you so much for all the love you've been showing," Jordan told Story during the conversation. "You've got a beautiful family. Thanks for including me in the collage, in the family pictures."
Story proudly showed him exactly where his framed magazine photograph had been placed. Jordan smiled after seeing his picture displayed alongside relatives, Civil Rights leaders and former US President Barack Obama, joking that he had secured "a good little place" on the wall.
The conversation soon became a family affair as Story's daughter joined the call and thanked Jordan for making time to speak with her mother. She praised the actor for his kindness, calling him "the man of the year" for reaching out after the family's unexpected viral fame.
Jordan also spoke warmly about the family's strength, saying he loved seeing three generations of Black women together. Although he revealed he had never visited Tulsa, he hinted that he might surprise the family one day after they invited him to attend a future gathering.
The actor's generosity extended well beyond the video call. Earlier, he arranged for a special delivery of David Yurman jewellery to be sent to Story's home. The gift included an amethyst bracelet and matching necklace featuring her birthstone.
Story was visibly emotional as she opened the package, expressing disbelief at the thoughtful surprise. The family later revealed another sweet coincidence between the pair. Jordan and Story both celebrate birthdays in February, with only six days separating their birth dates.
Natalie Sims explained that Jordan's team contacted the family only two days after the original video spread across social media. Although the actor was travelling internationally at the time, he still wanted to ensure Story received a meaningful gift before speaking with her personally.
Following the FaceTime call, Sims thanked Jordan publicly, writing that his generosity and compassion meant a great deal to the entire family. She also declared that the actor had officially become part of the Story family.
