Photo exhibit highlightsatrocities in IIOJK

A photo exhibition depicting the alleged atrocities against the people of Kashmir was organised at the Punjab Arts Council Rawalpindi to mark Kashmir Exploitation Day.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Punjab Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Shazia Rizwan.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Rizwan described Aug 5, 2019, as one of the darkest days in Kashmir's history, saying India had revoked the special status of the region in violation of international law. She said Pakistan would continue extending political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people at every level.

She added that the observance of Kashmir Exploitation Day aimed to draw the international community's attention to the situation in Indian-administered Kashmir and said the day was being observed across Punjab under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Punjab Arts Council Director Mohammad Shakoor said the council organised Kashmir Exploitation Day events every year to highlight alleged Indian atrocities and human rights violations in the region.

He added that the council regularly commemorated events of national, cultural and historical importance.
