NAB records Rs2.45tr recoveries

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recorded landmark figures in its anti-corruption drive, making direct and indirect recoveries worth Rs2.45 trillion during the second quarter of 2026.

"This milestone pushes the bureau's total recovery tally for the first six months of the year to a staggering Rs5.41 trillion, marking the highest ever six monthly recovery in its history," the anti-graft watchdog said in a statement.

According to details released by the bureau, a major component of this drive involved the "relentless retrieval of precious state land" measuring over 1.07 million acres across Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, and the Islamabad Capital Territory.

NAB Sukkur emerged as the top performer, recovering 853,678 acres of land belonging to the NHA, forest, and irrigation departments worth Rs1.01 trillion in collaboration with the Board of Revenue (BoR) Sindh and the Secretary Forest, the statement read.

Meanwhile, NAB Balochistan recovered 209,544 acres including prime natural reserves like the Hingol National Park and Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority (GIEDA) land valued at Rs604.64 billion.

Additional high-value recoveries include NAB Karachi retrieving 11,422 acres of illegally allotted state land and dubious housing society leases worth Rs467.11 billion, and NAB Lahore recovering 1,909 acres of state and PCBL land valued at Rs288.29 billion.

NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi secured 810 acres of CDA amenity plots worth Rs66.63 billion, while NAB Multan recovered 920 acres of state land valued at Rs2.76 billion.

Beyond territorial recoveries, the bureau provided substantial relief in housing and financial fraud cases, compensating over 24,365 affectees by returning Rs43.303 billion in looted assets and funds.
