Christina Applegate has returned home after spending nearly four months in hospital, marking an important step in her recovery while living with multiple sclerosis (MS).

The Emmy-winning actress was admitted in late March, but neither Applegate nor her representatives has confirmed the reason for her hospital stay.

According to Page Six, her representative previously declined to discuss her treatment, saying Applegate has “a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about”.

After news of her hospitalisation emerged, the Dead to Me star reassured supporters through Instagram, writing, “Health issues are a constant for me, but I'm a strong chick and I'm getting stronger and better every day.”

She also thanked fans for their “outpouring of love and well wishes” and said she was taking time to concentrate on her recovery.

Applegate has spoken openly about the challenges of living with MS since announcing her diagnosis in 2021.

On her MeSsy podcast, she previously discussed being hospitalised with a painful kidney infection, describing herself as being in “so much pain” and “screaming.”

Earlier this year, she also said she was largely confined to bed because of her condition, while continuing to make efforts to take her daughter, Sadie, to school.

Although MS has affected Applegate’s health significantly, there is no confirmation that it caused her latest hospital stay.

For now, the confirmed update is that she has been discharged and is continuing her recovery at home.
