Security forces conducted effective intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa over the past two months under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, security sources said on Monday.
According to the sources, security forces destroyed multiple terrorist hideouts during the operations in North Waziristan. "Several terrorists were killed during an operation in the Khatti Killi area of North Waziristan," the sources said.
A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other equipment was also recovered from the terrorists killed in the operation, they added. "Several terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij were also injured during the operations," the sources said.
Fitna al-Khawarij is the term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The sources said the operations were carried out to protect the lives and property of the public while ensuring that the local population was not harmed. "Security forces will continue operations across K-P until lasting peace is established and terrorism is completely eliminated," the sources said.
Last week, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said security forces had conducted 40,348 IBOs across the country so far this year.
