Cop martyred in Jamali Bridge attack

KARACHI:

A police constable was martyred and his colleague narrowly escaped after unidentified armed men opened fire near Jamali Bridge on Super Highway.

According to police, two motorcyclist personnel from Site Super Highway police station were on duty near Jamali Bridge when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire.

As a result, Constable Hamza Zaman sustained serious injuries. He was being shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his wounds on the way.

His colleague remained unhurt.

DSP Sohrab Goth Aurangzeb Khattak said the martyred policeman received five bullet wounds. The Crime Scene Unit collected evidence from the spot, while police are also recording statements of eyewitnesses.

Following the attack, police reached the scene and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
