Kevin Feige hints at Spider-Man 5 as Brand New Day smashes box office records

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has praised the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day while hinting at the future of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The latest Spider-Man film debuted with a historic $360 million domestic opening and an impressive $932 million worldwide in its first weekend, making it the biggest domestic opening in box office history and positioning the superhero blockbuster to surpass the $1 billion mark within days.

Speaking after the film’s launch, Feige credited director Destin Daniel Cretton, producer Amy Pascal, Sony Pictures and star Tom Holland for the film’s success. He also highlighted the enduring popularity of Spider-Man, calling Peter Parker one of Marvel’s most beloved and timeless characters.

While stopping short of officially confirming Spider-Man 5, Feige revealed that there are “always plans” for the franchise. However, he said Holland will first enjoy a well-earned break following the film’s global promotional tour, adding that both Holland and co-star Zendaya deserve a “restful victory lap” after the movie’s remarkable launch.

Feige also addressed Marvel’s decision to keep Sadie Sink’s role a secret before release, explaining that the studio wanted audiences to experience her character’s reveal in cinemas. He added that Sink’s character plays an important role in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Looking ahead, Feige suggested that Spider-Man: Brand New Day lays the groundwork for future Spider-Man stories while connecting directly to upcoming MCU projects, including Avengers: Doomsday. He also expressed confidence that the film’s success reinforces audience enthusiasm for interconnected Marvel storytelling when paired with compelling characters and emotionally driven narratives.
