WAPDA reports live storage at 9.275 MAF

ISLAMABAD:

The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) on Saturday said the combined live water storage in Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma reservoirs stood at 9.275 million acre-feet (MAF), while river inflows and outflows remained at normal operational levels.

According to a Wapda spokesperson, the inflow into the Indus River at Tarbela was recorded at 236,700 cusecs, while the outflow stood at 180,000 cusecs. At Mangla, the inflow into the Jhelum River was 44,700 cusecs, while the outflow was 7,000 cusecs.

The spokesperson said Chashma Barrage recorded an inflow of 277,200 cusecs and an outflow of 268,600 cusecs. At Head Marala, the inflow into the Chenab River was 87,300 cusecs, while the outflow was 71,600 cusecs.

Meanwhile, at Nowshera, the Kabul River recorded both inflow and outflow at 49,400 cusecs, the spokesperson added. The water level in Tarbela Reservoir was recorded at 1,539 feet, with water storage standing at 4.95 million acre-feet.

At Mangla Reservoir, the water level was 1,196.80 feet, while storage stood at 4.04 million acre-feet. The water level at Chashma Reservoir was 648.50 feet, with storage recorded at 285,000 acre-feet.

The spokesperson said that the inflow and outflow figures for the Indus River at Tarbela and Chashma, the Kabul River at Nowshera, and the Jhelum River at Mangla represent the average flow over the last 24 hours. He added that the inflow and outflow data for Head Marala and other locations were recorded at 6:00am on Saturday.
