Fatima Jinnah's birth anniversary marked

Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) on Friday paid tribute to Madar-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah on her birth anniversary, recognising her contributions to the Pakistan Movement, women's political empowerment and national development.

In a statement, the university said Fatima Jinnah, born on July 31, 1893, in Karachi, stood steadfastly alongside her brother, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, during the struggle for Pakistan and played a key role in mobilising Muslim women for the independence movement.

The university highlighted her efforts in founding the All India Muslim League Women's Committee in 1937, which helped spread the message of the Pakistan Movement among women across the subcontinent.

It also noted her services in the rehabilitation of refugees and provision of medical assistance.
