Inde Navarrette reveals her Marvel meeting with Jake Schreier and says she would love to play X-Men’s Mystique

Obsession breakout star Inde Navarrette has revealed that she recently met with Marvel Studios’ X-Men director Jake Schreier, sparking speculation about a possible role in the upcoming superhero reboot.

Navarrette discussed her recent Hollywood meetings on Variety’s Up Next podcast, explaining that the success of Obsession has opened new opportunities for her. The film became a major box office hit, earning more than $400 million worldwide from a modest budget and increasing attention around the rising actress.

During the interview, Navarrette confirmed that one of her meetings was with Schreier, who is developing Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie following his work directing Thunderbolts. The actress praised Schreier’s approach to Marvel storytelling, saying she appreciated the character-focused style he brought to the franchise.

Navarrette explained that she grew up watching the original Fox X-Men films and admired how those movies balanced superhero action with emotional character development. While she did not reveal details about her conversation with Schreier, she clarified that many of her recent meetings are simply opportunities to connect with filmmakers she respects.

When asked about potential Marvel roles, Navarrette hinted that she would be interested in playing Mystique, the shape-shifting mutant previously portrayed by Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence in the X-Men franchise.

Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot is expected to introduce a new generation of mutants after major events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The studio is also bringing back several legacy X-Men characters in Avengers: Doomsday, including appearances from original franchise stars.

Although no casting announcement has been made for Navarrette, her meeting with Schreier has fueled fan discussions about whether she could join the next era of Marvel’s X-Men.
