Ben Affleck wins $1 million on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, matching Matt Damon's feat

Ben Affleck is celebrating a major victory after taking home the $1 million grand prize on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, a milestone that comes one year after his longtime friend and Good Will Hunting co-star Matt Damon accomplished the same feat.

Appearing alongside Jeopardy! champion Jamie Ding on Wednesday's episode, Affleck successfully answered every question to secure the top prize, with the winnings set to benefit his charitable foundation.

The pair's toughest challenge came with the final question, which asked them to identify which pair of Thanksgiving turkeys had not been pardoned by a U.S. president. Faced with four possible answers, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Tater & Tot, Mac & Cheese, and Spaghetti & Meatball, they decided to use one of their remaining lifelines.

Host Jimmy Kimmel admitted he wasn't entirely sure but leaned toward Spaghetti & Meatball. Hoping for additional guidance, Affleck and Ding also reached out to Ding's trivia partner, Stephen Morrison, who chose not to make a guess.

With little else to go on, Affleck trusted Kimmel's instinct.

"I would bet on Jimmy," the actor said before locking in the answer.

The suspense stretched on as Kimmel confessed he had "such a stomach ache" waiting for the result. Moments later, the answer was confirmed as correct, sending Affleck and Ding into celebration as confetti rained down and they embraced after winning the show's top prize.

The $1 million will go to the Eastern Congo Initiative, the nonprofit Affleck co-founded with entrepreneur Whitney Williams in 2009. The organization partners with community-led groups in eastern Congo and works to bring greater international awareness and support to the region.

Affleck's win also marks a rare coincidence. Just a year earlier, Damon captured the same $1 million prize on the celebrity version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, making the Oscar-winning friends back-to-back million-dollar winners on the quiz show.
