Justin Herbert and Madison Beer announce engagement after year-long relationship

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and pop singer Madison Beer have announced their engagement, sharing the news in a joint Instagram post on July 28.

The couple revealed the milestone with the caption, "meet my fiancé." The Chargers also congratulated Herbert on X shortly after the announcement.

The engagement marks another high-profile relationship milestone involving the NFL during the 2026 off-season, following the wedding of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift earlier this month.

Herbert and Beer were first seen together in August 2025 and were subsequently spotted at several sporting events across the Los Angeles area.

Although the Chargers quarterback has long maintained a private profile away from the field, his relationship with Beer has become increasingly public over the past year.

Earlier this off-season, Herbert chose to miss organised team activities (OTAs) to support Beer at the launch of her Locket Tour. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh publicly backed the decision.

The quarterback also featured in the music video for Beer's single "lovergirl", appearing alongside the singer in scenes including a beach outing and a photo booth sequence.

Attention will now turn back to football as Herbert prepares for the 2026 NFL season.

After an inconsistent campaign last year, during which the Chargers' offensive line struggled with injuries, the franchise is hoping for improved results under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

The Chargers are widely expected to benefit from a healthier squad and changes to the coaching staff as they aim to compete more consistently this season.
