‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 3 finally gets November premiere date

Comic Con preview unveiled opening scene, returning cast and fresh demigods before long awaited Disney+ launch

Disney+ has officially confirmed that Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will premiere on November 20, giving fans their first major update on the next chapter of the fantasy adventure. The announcement came during SAN DIEGO COMIC CON, where attendees were also treated to the opening minutes of the upcoming season and new details about the story.

The third season adapts Rick Riordan's third novel, The Titan's Curse, continuing Percy Jackson's journey through the world of Greek mythology. Returning stars Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri and Leah Sava Jeffries reprise their roles as Percy Jackson, Grover Underwood and Annabeth Chase as they embark on another dangerous mission involving gods, monsters and powerful Titans.

According to the footage screened at the convention, the season opens with Thalia Grace, played by Tamara Smart, battling a monster inside a parking garage. Percy arrives to assist her, although Thalia makes it clear she believes she can handle the fight alone. After defeating the creature, Annabeth reveals she asked Percy to help because the pair need Thalia's assistance on a rescue mission involving two young demigods who must be brought safely to Camp Half Blood.

The preview also highlights the continuing friction between Percy and Thalia following the events of Season 2. Percy openly expresses his reluctance to work alongside the daughter of Zeus before Thalia ultimately drives away, leaving tensions unresolved as the story moves forward.

Several familiar faces will return alongside the central trio. Charlie Bushnell reprises his role as Luke Castellan, Daniel Diemer returns as Tyson and Dior Goodjohn is back as Clarisse La Rue. Season 3 also expands the mythology with several significant new characters introduced from Riordan's novels.

Among the newcomers are Levi Chrisopulos as Nico di Angelo, Olive Abercrombie as Bianca di Angelo, Saara Chaudry as Zoë Nightshade, Hubert Smielecki as Apollo, Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite and Ming Na Wen as Hera. Their arrival marks one of the largest cast expansions since the series began and introduces several characters who play major roles throughout the book series.

During the Comic Con panel, Walker Scobell told fans that he believes Season 3 is the closest adaptation of Rick Riordan's novels that the production has achieved so far. His comments are likely to reassure longtime readers, many of whom have praised the series for remaining faithful to the source material while adapting the books for television.

The previous season adapted The Sea of Monsters, the second novel in Riordan's bestselling fantasy saga. It concluded with the dramatic return of Thalia Grace, setting up the storyline that now takes centre stage in The Titan's Curse. Her expanded role was widely anticipated by readers familiar with the original novels.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians was created for television by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E Steinberg. Steinberg serves as co showrunner and executive producer alongside Craig Silverstein and Dan Shotz. Rick Riordan and Rebecca Riordan also executive produce with Ellen Goldsmith Vein, Jeremy Bell, D J Goldberg, Bert Salke, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler and Sarah Watson.

With a November 20 release now locked in and Scobell promising the most book accurate season yet, anticipation continues to build for the next quest awaiting Camp Half Blood's young heroes.
