A six-year-old girl was killed and five others, including three children, were injured when the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in the Bhutta Umar Din area on the outskirts of Mailsi after recent heavy rains.
Rescue officials said rainwater had accumulated on the weakened roof, causing it to cave in.
The incident occurred while family members were transferring mud from one roof to another when the deteriorated structure suddenly collapsed, trapping nearly all occupants beneath the debris.
Rescue 1122 teams and police rushed to the scene and launched an immediate rescue operation.
All the victims were pulled from the rubble and shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Mailsi.
