239 suspects rounded up; drugs recovered

The Hyderabad police rounded up 239 suspects including 13 with gunshot injuries during the crackdown over the last 2 weeks, according to the police spokesman.

He informed here on Monday that 62 hardened criminals and 50 drug peddlers were among those arrested in addition to 73 manufacturers and sellers of mainpuri and gutka.

He added that 34 pistols, 12.5 kilograms of hashish, 65 grams crystal ice, 4,501 large bags of raw materials of mainpuri and gutka and liquor bottles besides 35,000 sachets of mainpuri and gutka were recovered from the arrested suspects.

The spokesman said the statistics reflected the police action carried out in the city over the last fortnight.

HDA cancels approval of housing scheme

On the order of the Provincial Ombudsman, the Hyderabad Development Authority cancelled the layout plan and No Objection Certificate of Zafar housing scheme. The media cell of the HDA informed that all the concerned government departments had been communicated about the HDA's move with clear information that the scheme in question should not be offered any services.

According to the media cell, the scheme's sponsor and developer had failed to provide adequate water supply, drainage and infrastructure facilities in the project in violation of the HDA's rules and regulations.

The HDA also advised the public against investing in the said housing scheme.
