Dungeon Crawler Carl's Princess Donut gets chocolate bar and browser game ahead of TV series

Princess Donut is receiving more than a television adaptation as Dungeon Crawler Carl continues to expand beyond the bestselling book series. Ahead of Peacock's live-action adaptation, the fan-favourite feline has inspired a limited-edition chocolate bar and a free browser game.

Seattle-based chocolatier Maeve has partnered with Dungeon Crawler Carl to release the "Virgin Dirty Shirley" chocolate bar, based on Princess Donut's favourite drink from the novels.

According to the product description, the confection features a dark chocolate shell filled with a white chocolate truffle centre, combined with dried cherries and popping candy intended to recreate the drink's flavour.

“The bar is inspired by Princess Donut’s favorite drink, the Virgin Dirty Shirley. It starts with sustainably sourced, delicious dark chocolate, melts into a creamy white chocolate center, and is packed with sweet, dried cherries and popping candy that crackles with fizzy magic.”

Alongside the chocolate bar, Maeve has launched Mama's Night Off, a free retro-inspired browser game starring Princess Donut. Players control the character while aiming for the highest possible score in an arcade-style experience.

The game also includes new voice recordings by Jeff Hays, who has portrayed Princess Donut throughout the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook series.

Announcing the game's release, Maeve wrote, “Our Princess Donut flash game is live!!! And the best part??? JEFF HAYS RECORDED NEW DONUT AND ALL LINES FOR IT!”

The company also encouraged fans to compete for high scores, saying members of its own team had become “obsessed” with trying to outperform one another.

The releases come shortly after Peacock shared the first casting announcement for its Dungeon Crawler Carl television adaptation during San Diego Comic-Con.

The streaming service confirmed that Hays will reprise his role as the voice of Princess Donut in the live-action series.

Hays has voiced the character across the audiobook adaptations, and his return for the television series has been welcomed by many longtime readers and listeners of the franchise.
