Justice Sattar asked to vacate Islamabad house

ISLAMABAD:

The allotment of Justice Babar Sattar's official residence in the federal capital has been cancelled following his transfer from the Islamabad High Court to the Peshawar High Court, according to a notice issued by the registrar's office.

The notice stated that the Estate Office cancelled the allotment of the government residence on July 3 and directed Justice Sattar to vacate the house within 30 days.

According to the office, Justice Sattar's transfer from the IHC to the PHC had already taken effect, and the notice period would be counted from July 3, the date on which the allotment was cancelled.

Sources said that after his transfer, Justice Sattar decided to retain his official residence in Islamabad instead of obtaining official accommodation in Peshawar.

Judicial sources said a judge is entitled to retain only one official residence. Sources further said security officials visited Justice Sattar's Islamabad residence on Friday but left afterwards. Justice Babar Sattar is currently on judicial vacation.
