Chris Brown pleads guilty to affray over 2023 London nightclub incident, assault charges dropped

Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray in connection with a confrontation at a London nightclub in 2023, according to BBC News.

The singer entered his guilty plea at Southwark Crown Court during a hearing that lasted less than five minutes. The case relates to an incident at a nightclub in London's Mayfair district.

Brown's co-defendant, vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu, the rapper who performs under the name Hoody Baby, also pleaded guilty to affray.

Charges of assault and grievous bodily harm, which both Brown and Akinlolu had denied, were dropped. A separate charge against Brown of possessing an offensive weapon was also discontinued.

The pair are scheduled to be sentenced in October.

Outside the court, fans gathered to support the singer. ITV News reported that supporters held signs as Brown arrived, with one fan reportedly shouting, “I love you Chris.”

Brown has faced previous legal issues during his career.

He previously served time in prison in Los Angeles after violating the terms of his probation following his conviction for felony assault against his then-girlfriend Rihanna, a case that attracted worldwide media attention.

The latest court proceedings conclude a significant stage in the UK case stemming from the 2023 nightclub confrontation.

While Brown has now admitted the affray offence, the more serious allegations of assault, grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon will no longer proceed after being dropped.

The sentencing hearing in October is expected to determine the penalties for both Brown and Akinlolu following their guilty pleas.
