FAMSUN to set up Tech Display Park
In a landmark development aimed at accelerating Pakistan's agricultural modernisation, the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and globally renowned Famsun Group of China have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish a Famsun Technology Display Park and promote cooperation in agricultural innovation, research, technology transfer and capacity building.
The LoI was signed by PARC Chairman Dr Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi and Famsun Group Chief Executive Officer Jack Chen. The agreement comes in the wake of efforts made by Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Rana Tanveer Hussain to attract world-class agricultural technologies and international investment to Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Hussain said the agreement marked another important step in the government's agenda to transform agriculture through international partnerships and modern technologies. He said the proposed Technology Display Park would serve as a national platform where the latest agricultural engineering solutions would be demonstrated for researchers, farmers, entrepreneurs, investors and the private sector.
The minister stressed that Pakistan possessed enormous agricultural potential, but improving productivity, reducing post-harvest losses and increasing value addition required access to modern technologies and global expertise. He noted that collaboration with one of the world's leading agricultural engineering companies would help introduce internationally proven solutions, strengthen research and create new opportunities for investment and industrial cooperation.
Describing the agreement as a historic achievement, PARC Chairman Dr Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi said the Technology Display Park would become the first dedicated platform of its kind at PARC to showcase advanced agricultural engineering technologies from a globally recognised company.
Andrabi emphasised that the collaboration would significantly strengthen Pakistan's agricultural research system by connecting scientific research with modern industrial technologies. He said researchers, scientists, students, farmers and agribusinesses would benefit from direct exposure to advanced technologies, international expertise and collaborative research opportunities.
Famsun Group CEO Jack Chen expressed confidence in Pakistan's agricultural potential and appreciated PARC's role as the country's premier agricultural research organisation. He affirmed Famsun's commitment to building a long-term partnership through knowledge sharing, innovation and collaborative initiatives that could support sustainable agricultural development.
Under the LoI, both organisations will work together to explore the establishment of the Technology Park, envisioned as a centre for tech demonstration, research collaboration, professional training and engagement between government institutions, academia, industry and investors. The cooperation will also facilitate knowledge exchange and create opportunities for introducing globally recognised agri-solutions.
