ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan has invited Chinese investors to expand investment in its ports, logistics and maritime sectors, with the government committing to transform the country into a regional transit trade, logistics and industrial hub, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry made the pitch at the Regional Transit Trade Hub Initiative in Beijing, organised by Jiang Tonland International Holdings.

Chaudhry said Pakistan and China share an "All-Weather Strategic Partnership" entering a new phase centred on connectivity, trade facilitation, logistics, industrial development and sustainable economic growth.

The minister said the global trading system was being reshaped by digitalisation, smart logistics, resilient supply chains, green shipping and multimodal transport, making regional partnerships and innovation increasingly important.

Chaudhry described Gwadar Port as a flagship project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said it offered investment opportunities in port operations, logistics, warehousing, free zone development and maritime industries.

He said maritime institutions, including the Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority, Gwadar Port Authority and the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, were implementing reforms to develop the country into a modern maritime, logistics and industrial hub serving regional markets.

Sheila Zulfiqar Ahmed | 2 weeks ago | Reply China is annoyed with us currently over Pakistan preferring U.S mining Corporations for minerals specially REEs excavation in Balochistan over their Chinese counterparts . Due to our strategic partnership with China on which depends our national security we can t annoy China and it has landed us into financial trouble too as China has asked us to pay back the investment it s companies made in the nergy sector in Pak with regard to CPEC . That in turn has made us more economically dependent on the US and KSA other Middle Eastern friends forcing us to go for further defense alliances like our SMDA with KSA although that kind of development may pit us against Iran leading to an infighting in the Muslim World if Iran first does not sign a No War pact with GCC states and if China too is not made part of this military alliance instead of thinking of a Muslim NATO China s military alliance with Muslim states is necessary as is China s cooperation with the Muslim World specially Pakistan in Counter Terrorism for which China can be most effective at the UNSC level where Pak and China must challenge the Indo U.S led narrative on Religious Extremism Terrorism that links only Islam Muslims and Pakistan with Terrorism . So I hope our Field Marshal would make SIFC review it s decision with regard to our MoUs with American Mining companies in Baluchistan as the presence of thousands of US private military contractors in Afghanistan reportedly even after USs withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 which seems more like a switch over to privatizing the war there the presence of Israeli and Indian military officials in Afghanistan reportedly sponsoring and guiding TTP and BLA and US s unjustified act of leaving billions of dollars worth highly sophisticated arms in Afghanistan and it s financial control of the Afghan Taliban regime there all point to the danger of allowing US investments in our minerals and oil and gas sectors in Balochistan and KP . The ongoing war between Iran and the U.S Israel and Israel s constant threats to Pakistan India s sponsoring of TTP and BLA and the U.Ss constant support of Israel in Lebanon by way of imposing sn unfair deal on the Lebanese Govt to isolate Hezbollah and Muslims in Lebanon ..making them vulnerable to Israeli attacks snd U.Ss non committal attitude towards Indian terror sponsoring in Pak ...along with maligning Pakistan at the UNSC for terror sponsoring by linking defunct LeT with TRF in Occupied Kashmir which claimed the Pehelgam attack ...all point towards the total take over of the US decision making by Corporations and so Pak must see it s relationship with Washington and Beijing in the context of the new phenomenon of Corporations versus Nation State system where the U.S is leading the formers conflict creating wars and destructive policies for selling arms and capturing natural resources of the Muslim World and global South and China representing the struggle by states for the survival of the Nation State System as states and their Govts representing their people car for their people but Corporations only care for Profit . If Pak allows US Corporations into Pak specially Baluchistan it carries huge security risks too as it was in trucks that Ukraine smuggled the drones into Russia that destroyed more than quarter of Russia s air force while still on the ground . Our PAF is our pride and crucial for defense and so the Field Marshal must review the decision to allow the U.S Corporations into Pak or even to depend on the US for our CT needs as the US is no more to be trusted for Intel sharing since it s so called War on Terror is getting exposed as a War against Pakistan the Muslim World and the global South s resources ...Pakistan Zindabad
