LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that the journey of development was not confined to Lahore but encompassed the entire province, as the government completed the delivery of 272 modern drainage and sewerage machines to the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) in 15 districts.

She said the supply of 696 machines and related equipment in 41 districts was under way.

The chief minister handed over the symbolic keys of the newly procured sewerage machinery to the relevant WASA officials.

During a ceremony, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin and Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal informed the CM that 272 machines of 12 categories had been supplied to WASA across the province in the first phase.

The machinery includes loader rickshaws, tractor-trolleys, sewer winch, desilting and jetting machines, dewatering pumps, bowsers, dump trucks, backhoe machines, suction machines, wheel excavators and boom cranes, all aimed at strengthening the drainage and sewerage operations.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz noted that the WASA network had been expanded from two to 41 districts across Punjab.

She added that the government was upgrading sewerage infrastructure and drainage systems to provide better civic services and convenience to the citizens.

Meanwhile, the CM's Special Assistant Shoaib Mirza visited 'model villages' in Toba Tek Singh to review progress on providing modern civic amenities and improving public facilities. A project to transform four settlements in the district into model villages is under way.
