Cop on AJK PM's security duty dies in accident

MUZAFFARABAD:

A police official was killed and five others were injured on Friday when a police vehicle, escorting the convoy of AJK PM Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, plunged into a ravine in Haveli Kahuta.

Rathore was travelling from Khurshidabad to Kahuta in his constituency as part of his election campaign. The police vehicle assigned to the security of his convoy skidded off the road near Chhanjal while negotiating a sharp turn and fell into a ravine.

The accident claimed the life of a police official identified as Ansar. Five other police personnel - Barkat, Sabeel, Shafaat, Hassan and the driver, Shafiq - sustained injuries in the crash.
