ISLAMABAD:

Police have informed an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad that they have initiated proclaimed offender (PO) proceedings against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and PTI leaders Junaid Akbar and Abdul Ghani Afridi in a case related to the Nov 26, 2024 incidents.

The Islamabad Police have submitted a report before the court in a case registered at Margalla Police Station. They have filed the report in response to the court's notice regarding the non-submission of the challan against the accused, including Afridi, Akbar and Ghani.

According to the report submitted by the deputy inspector general of Islamabad Police, non-bailable arrest warrants for the accused were obtained in compliance with the court's order dated June 23, 2026. However, despite repeated efforts, the warrants could not be executed, the report stated.

Police informed the court that, following the failure to execute the warrants, proceedings to declare the accused proclaimed offenders had been initiated in accordance with the law.

The report further stated that once the proclaimed offender proceedings are completed, preparation of the challan under Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure will enter its final stage.

Police assured the court that the challan would be submitted immediately after its completion. According to the report, there had been no negligence, delay or lack of effort at any stage of the investigation or legal proceedings in the case.
