Three children, mother found dead; father detained

Initial police investigations suggest poisoning of kids

LAHORE:

A woman and her three children were found dead in a house in Kahna on Friday. Police detained the children's father for questioning.

According to police and rescue officials, the incident occurred in a private housing society in Haloki.

The deceased were identified as 47-year-old Aleena, 16-year-old Rehan, 11-year-old Arisha and nine-year-old Arsalan.

The police said the children were found dead inside the house, while their mother was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital in critical condition, where she died.

Police and forensic experts collected evidence and secured the area.

The police said initial investigations suggested that the children had been administered a poisonous substance. However, officials stressed that the cause of deaths would be confirmed after post-mortem examination and forensic analysis.

"The incident is being investigated from multiple angles. The post-mortem reports will help establish the actual circumstances surrounding the deaths," SP Asad Ali said.

The police confirmed that the children's father had been taken into custody for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

After completion of legal formalities and evidence collection, the bodies were shifted to a morgue for post-mortem examination.
