Punjab installs panic buttons for foreign nationals
.

A panic button system has been launched to enhance the security of foreign nationals residing and working across Punjab.
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched the system in collaboration with the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
According to a PSCA spokesperson, QR Panic Buttons would be installed at the residences and workplaces of foreign nationals. By scanning the quick response code, users would gain instant access to the Emergency Helpline 15, live chat, video calling and location-sharing services.
In case of an emergency, the user's live location and other relevant information would be transmitted instantly to the PSCA Command and Control Centre, enabling law enforcement agencies to ensure a prompt and coordinated response.
The spokesperson said the system had been integrated with the PSCA Command and Control System, allowing the police and SPU to assess situations and respond without delay.
The system would establish a direct communication link between foreign nationals, the PSCA and SPU, the spokesperson added.
