UN chief hopeful calls on FM Dar

ISLAMABAD:

Carolyn Rodrigues Birkett, a candidate for the office of the United Nations Secretary-General, called on Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Monday, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.

During the meeting, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's longstanding commitment to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, as well as to the multilateral system, and expressed the country's unwavering support for the UN's central role in global affairs.

Dar stressed the need to ensure respect for international law and treaties, and called for the full implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
