25 aid containers cleared at Torkham border

Customs authorities on Monday completed the clearance of 25 United Nations (UN) aid containers carrying food supplies for Afghanistan, customs sources said on Monday.

According to customs officials, the cleared containers will be allowed to cross into Afghanistan through the Torkham border on the following day.

The sources said all the containers contain humanitarian food assistance. The UN has decided to dispatch around 1,000 containers of food supplies to Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds, with the consignments to be cleared and transported in phases over the next week.
