Christina Ricci joins backlash over Jimmy Fallon’s Conor McGregor interview
The actress reposted an Instagram message after renewed attention focused on McGregor’s legal history

Christina Ricci has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Conor McGregor’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, adding her voice to the criticism aimed at the late night host.
The actress, known for roles in The Addams Family, Yellowjackets and Wednesday, shared an Instagram post that condemned both McGregor and the decision to feature him on the programme. Although Ricci did not write an extended statement of her own, the repost quickly attracted attention and became part of the wider conversation unfolding online.

The message she shared criticised Fallon for giving McGregor a mainstream platform and argued that public figures should not ignore allegations and legal findings involving violence against women.
The backlash follows McGregor’s recent television appearance, where the former UFC champion participated in a light hearted interview while promoting his latest projects. Critics argued that the segment treated him like any other celebrity guest and avoided discussion of the controversy that has followed him in recent years.
McGregor has consistently denied accusations made against him and has maintained that any encounter in question was consensual.
In November 2024, a civil jury in Dublin found McGregor liable in a lawsuit brought by Nikita Hand over an incident dating back to December 2018. Hand was awarded damages of nearly €250,000. McGregor appealed the decision, but Ireland’s Court of Appeal later upheld the original ruling.
Following the appeal decision, Hand encouraged survivors to speak out and said others should not remain silent. Her remarks received widespread media coverage and became part of the ongoing public discussion surrounding the case.
Ricci has previously used her public platform to speak about issues involving women and abuse culture. Supporters praised her decision to share the message, while others argued that celebrities should be free to express differing views regarding controversial public figures.
The reaction has also reignited debate over how entertainment programmes handle guests with complicated or divisive public histories. Some viewers questioned whether high profile appearances can contribute to image rehabilitation, while others maintained that talk shows are not responsible for acting as courts of public opinion.
Jimmy Fallon has not publicly addressed the criticism at the time of writing.
