Activists urge CM to save school from commercial conversion

Consumer Civil Society Balochistan's Education Cell Chairman Muhammad Naeem Khan and Protector of Minority Properties Balochistan Adnan Jahangir Masih have urged Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and other senior officials to intervene and safeguard the future of hundreds of children by halting the eviction of St. Gabriel's Primary School, an institution that has provided education to the city's youth for 75 years.
Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Friday, flanked by fellow activists, Khan and Masih expressed grave concern over reports that the school's prime land was being repurposed for a commercial plaza rather than being utilised for educational objectives.
"St. Gabriel's was established in 1953 and has since educated thousands of students. We have received alarming information that efforts are underway to convert this valuable land into a commercial project, stripping it of its educational purpose," said Muhammad Naeem Khan.
The activists demanded a transparent investigation into the matter and insisted that facts be brought before the public. "Our sole objective is to preserve a historic educational institution and ensure the protection of children's right to education," Khan added.
