After years of speculation, Mike Myers has finally confirmed that a fourth Austin Powers film is on the way.

The actor made the revelation during Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party when a fan asked whether Austin Powers 4 would happen. Myers responded with a simple but definitive “yes”, offering fans the strongest indication yet that the beloved spy comedy series will return.

Although the actor did not provide additional details regarding the project, his response marks the first direct confirmation from Myers after years of keeping the possibility open without committing to another instalment.

The original Austin Powers franchise became one of the most recognisable comedy series of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Beginning with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in 1997, the series expanded with Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me in 1999 and Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2002.

Collectively, the films earned more than half a billion dollars worldwide and turned catchphrases, costumes and characters into pop culture staples. Myers famously played multiple roles throughout the franchise, including Austin Powers himself and his arch enemy Dr Evil.

The actor has previously expressed interest in revisiting the world of Austin Powers, often suggesting that any new story should place greater focus on Dr Evil. However, he repeatedly stopped short of confirming whether another film would actually move forward.

Back in 2020, franchise director Jay Roach told Deadline that he would gladly return if Myers found the right idea. Roach praised the actor’s creativity and said he remained ready to reunite whenever inspiration struck.

The renewed interest surrounding the series comes just days after Myers reunited with fellow Austin Powers cast members Seth Green, Mindy Sterling and Rob Lowe for a Verizon commercial. The advertisement sparked nostalgia among fans and led to fresh discussions about the possibility of a fourth film.

More than two decades have passed since Goldmember reached cinemas, making the upcoming sequel one of the longest gaps between entries in a major comedy franchise.

At this stage, no studio release date, cast announcements or production details have been revealed. It also remains unclear whether original stars such as Heather Graham, Beyoncé or Michael Caine would return alongside Myers.

Nevertheless, the actor’s brief answer has ended years of uncertainty and officially put Austin Powers 4 back on the entertainment calendar.
