Flood relief cell set up

A ‘flood relief cell’ has been established in anticipation of the monsoon rains at the ENDM fire headquarters.

A ‘flood relief cell’ has been established in anticipation of the monsoon rains at the Emergency & Disaster Management Directorate (ENDM) fire headquarters. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) intends that the cell will provide flood relief services to the citizens Islamabad in case of any emergency during the upcoming monsoon rains.

The cell is intended to function around the clock and will be equipped with latest relief devices including 20 dewatering pumps and vehicles including pickup trucks, loaders and dumpers.

Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Elahi has nominated Director ENDM Ahsan Ali Mangi as chief coordinator of the cell, while Assistant Director ENDM Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) Tariq Masood will serve as the cell’s focal person. He said that the cell will work under administrative control of the ENDM, which is situated in Sector G-7/1.

He added that the directorates of environment, enforcement, municipal administration, planning, E&M maintenance and the Capital Hospital will provide co-ordinated assistance for the cell.

On the directions of chairman CDA, arrangements have been made to share information about Simly Dam’s flood level with the public on a daily basis. All kinds of material hindering the smooth flow of water shall be removed on emergency basis from Nullahs. The Capital Hospital and all CDA dispensaries have been instructed to appropriately equip themselves to meet any emergency.
