Livia Giuggioli, the former wife of actor Colin Firth, has publicly criticised Gwyneth Paltrow after the Oscar-winning actress appeared in a promotional campaign for a luxury housing development in Israel.

The controversy centres on Paltrow's recent advert for 51 Park, a luxury residential project in Herzliya, a coastal city north of Tel Aviv. The campaign, filmed in New York, features Paltrow promoting the development as a premium lifestyle destination.

Giuggioli, an environmental activist and founder of several sustainability initiatives, condemned the advert in a video shared on Instagram, calling Paltrow's involvement “completely unacceptable”. She also revealed that she had cancelled a planned visit by the actress to Quintosapore, the sustainable Italian farm she co-founded with her brothers.

“I just cancelled Gwyneth Paltrow,” Giuggioli said, explaining that the actress had been scheduled to visit the farm for a “soil-to-fork” experience in the coming weeks. She argued that promoting a luxury property development while the conflict in Gaza continues was inappropriate and accused Hollywood figures of remaining silent on the issue.

Giuggioli went on to accuse Paltrow of being detached from reality, questioning whether the actress was “nasty” or “stupid” for participating in the campaign. She also claimed that celebrities who actively support projects connected to Israel should face greater scrutiny.

The backlash follows broader criticism directed at Paltrow since the advert's release. Social media users have accused the actress of being tone-deaf for promoting luxury real estate in Israel amid the ongoing war in Gaza, while others have defended her right to participate in a commercial campaign.

The 51 Park development has been marketed as a high-end residential complex overlooking Herzliya Park and Galil Yam Park. Developers have described it as one of Israel's premier luxury housing projects, with Paltrow chosen as the face of the campaign because of her association with an upscale lifestyle brand.

Neither Paltrow nor her representatives have publicly responded to Giuggioli's comments.

Giuggioli was married to Firth from 1997 until their separation in 2019. The former couple share two sons and have remained on good terms since their divorce.
