ISLAMABAD:

WHO on Saturday called on people across Pakistan to donate blood voluntarily, warning that the country faces an annual shortage of 2.3 million blood donations.

"This shortage is hampering hospitals' ability to save lives," WHO said, ahead of World Blood Donor Day being observed on June 14.

Marking this year's World Blood Donor Day under the slogan "One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives," WHO emphasized that blood donation is an act of human solidarity that can help save up to three lives through a single donation.
