American Fork residents and online supporters gathered at a recent city council meeting to voice concerns and show support for YouTuber Reckless Ben, amid ongoing allegations of police misconduct tied to his investigation into a disputed collectibles case.

The controversy centres on Benjamin Schneider, known online as Reckless Ben, who has been documenting a dispute involving an alleged $200,000 Lego Star Wars collection linked to a Bricks & Minifigs store. The situation has escalated into legal filings, arrests, and growing public attention across social media.

During the June 9 American Fork City Council meeting, public comments shifted sharply toward the case, with multiple speakers accusing local law enforcement of overreach in how they handled interactions connected to the investigation. One speaker described the situation as a civil dispute that was escalated unnecessarily, alleging police interference in attempts to pursue legal action.

Additional claims raised during the meeting included accusations that individuals involved in the investigation were stopped, questioned, or monitored by officers while gathering information. Speakers also argued that law enforcement actions had damaged public trust and called for an independent review of the department’s conduct.

City officials acknowledged the concerns but did not announce any formal investigation. One council member expressed appreciation for local police while noting the sensitivity of the situation, adding that their own family had recently experienced a separate incident involving law enforcement response.

The meeting also covered unrelated city matters, including budget discussions and a proposed property tax increase. However, the Reckless Ben controversy remained one of the most debated topics of the evening.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings connected to the Bricks & Minifigs dispute continue, with lawsuits filed against Reckless Ben and others involved in the case. Ben has stated that his ongoing investigative content has been delayed due to legal constraints.

After watching the Twitter footage that you shared I want to high6 that the city council had EXTREMELY LOUD alarms go off multiple times for EXTREMELY LONG periods. Maybe these alarms are just incompetence upon American Fork s city council s part but more likely it was a successful attempt to interrupt the citizens speaking and to damage the audio of these recordings. Citizens of American Fork please vote out the police chief who lead this police conspiracy please vote out the judge who signed the warrants please vote out the council members who are censoring you and please vote out any prosecutors who fail to pursue the police. Thank you.
