Four booked over attempted sexual assault on minor
Locals point to lack of surveillance at tube wells, fields as key factor

Police in Wandhar area in Pattoki tehsil have registered a case against four named suspects following an alleged attempt to assault a minor child on Sunday.
The case was registered on a complaint filed by the victim's family. As per the text of the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred when a young child went to bathe at a tube well located in the fields.
The FIR alleges that four individuals already present at the site grabbed the child and took him to a nearby sugarcane field, where they allegedly attempted to assault him.
The victim's family stated that the child raised an alarm upon sensing danger, drawing the attention of nearby people. Seeing the approaching crowd, the suspects fled.
After the incident, the family promptly contacted police, leading to the registration of a case against the named suspects: Ali Raza, Faraz, Rizwan and Shehzad.
Police officials said that an investigation has been initiated, with all aspects of the incident under review.
Evidence is being collected, and special teams have been deployed to arrest the suspects. Authorities assured that the investigation would be conducted on its merits, with legal action taken in accordance with the facts uncovered.
Meanwhile, a strong sense of concern has spread throughout the area.
Local residents said that the rise in crimes against children is increasingly worrying for parents.
They noted that in rural areas, the lack of effective surveillance around fields, isolated locations, and tube wells heightens the risk of such incidents.
Residents reported that multiple sexual offense cases, including those involving children, have been recorded in and around Sarai Mughal over recent months, leaving parents deeply worried about their children's safety.
Local community leaders have called upon law enforcement agencies to adopt more effective strategies to prevent such incidents, including increased patrols and surveillance at sensitive locations.
Citizens also demanded awareness campaigns in schools and at the community level to help children recognize dangerous situations and immediately report any untoward incidents to their parents or relevant authorities.
More than 10 cases of sexual offenses, including those against children, have been reported within the jurisdiction of Sarai Mughal police station, further heightening public concern.
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing, and further facts were expected to emerge following the arrest of the suspects.
