LAHORE: The brunt of the reduced sports budget this year has begun to affect more sports federations in Pakistan as the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) has confirmed that it will not be able to send its representatives to the Junior Women Asia Cup to be held in India from July 9.

“The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has prevented our players from participating in the event due to our budget restrictions,” PNF Secretary-General Mudussar Arain told The Express Tribune. “We’ve been reminding the Sports Board for the last six months and been preparing for it as well but 15 days before the event, the PSB refused to grant our involvement in the event.”

The PNF, affiliated with the International and Asian Netball Federations, has been struggling for international exposure but has been working at grass-root level for the development of the game in the country.
