Bride's brother arrested in 'honour killing' of newlywed couple

Police have arrested the main suspect involved in the daylight shooting of a newlywed couple in the Saudabad area of Malir, officials said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Sajid, is the real brother of the deceased woman and has reportedly confessed to killing his sister and brother-in-law in what police described as an "honour killing."

According to police, the fatal shooting took place on Monday evening near the NADRA office in Saudabad, where armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on a moving car. The couple, seated in the back seat, was killed on the spot, while the attackers managed to flee.

The victims were identified as Najeebullah and his wife Nadia, who had contracted a love marriage.

A case was registered at Saudabad police station on the complaint of the victim Najeebullah's brother, Muhammad Usman, naming the girl's father Muhammad Aslam and four unidentified armed men. Police arrested the main suspect within 15 hours during a raid in the limits of Sachal police station.
