Fawad Asadullah appointed DG IB

The government has appointed Additional Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Grade-22 officer Fawad Asadullah Khan, as the DG of the agency after granting him a four-year extension in service.
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, PM Shehbaz Sharif approved the extension of Khan's contract for another four years, formalising his continuation in service at the senior-most level of the intelligence apparatus.
Under the notification, the extension will take effect from July 14, 2026, for a further four-year term. A separate notification confirmed that, following the approval, he has been appointed DG IB. The orders stated that he will continue to serve as DG until further directives.
