Detention of Saad Edhi condemned

KARACHI:

Human Rights Council of Pakistan has strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla and the arrest and torture of human rights activists, including Saad Edhi, describing the action as a blatant violation of human rights, humanitarian assistance and freedom of expression.

Addressing a protest demonstration held outside the Karachi Press Club, council chairman Jamshed Hussain said that Israeli aggression and brutality were unacceptable and urged the United Nations to take immediate notice of the matter.

He called upon the government to undertake effective diplomatic efforts for the release of Saad Edhi and other detained human rights workers.
