Two Shangla miners killed in accidents

Two miners from Shangla district lost their lives in two separate coal mine accidents, while a third was injured, plunging the region into mourning.

The first accident occurred around 1 pm at Mine No 5 of Akhorwal coal mines. According to sources, two workers were suddenly buried under debris during operations inside the mine. Rescue teams, fellow miners, and local residents launched immediate efforts and successfully retrieved the trapped workers after nearly two and a half hours of intense work.

The deceased miner was identified as Muhammad Zada son of Gul Jahan, while the injured worker was Khadim Shah son of Bli Dhar. Both hailed from Shangla district. The injured miner received initial first aid and was shifted to a nearby health facility for further treatment.

In the second tragic incident reported from the Chaparmashti area, Haider son of Akbar Khan, a resident of Borsht who belonged to Koz Kana, died while working in the coal mine. The young man had gone to the mine in search of livelihood and fell victim to an accident during work. After necessary formalities, his body was sent to his native village for burial.

Both incidents have cast a pall of grief across Shangla and surrounding areas. Local residents and labor organizations have expressed serious concern over the lack of safety measures in the coal mines and demanded that the government and relevant authorities take immediate notice.

People in the area stated that recurring accidents in coal mines have become a constant threat to the lives of laborers. They urged strict enforcement of safety protocols in all mines to prevent the loss of precious human lives in the future.
