Governor Kundi announces 35 MMCFD gas allocation after federal intervention

ISLAMABAD:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday announced that Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across the province will resume operations from Thursday (today), bringing much-needed relief to transporters, motorists, and the general public after weeks of disruption.

Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad alongside K-P opposition leader Dr Ebadullah and Provincial Advisor on Finance Muzammil Aslam, the Governor said the provincial government, opposition parties, and the federal government have worked together to resolve the longstanding gas shortage issue.

"From tomorrow (Thursday), CNG stations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will open. Gas will be supplied uninterrupted from 6 am to 6 pm daily," Governor Faisal Karim Kundi declared. He added that an agreement has been reached with the federal government to provide 35 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD) of gas to the province.

The Governor emphasized that all political parties in K-P stand united in addressing the problems faced by the people of the province. "The solution to the province's issues is our top priority. Every stakeholder must play their role. We want a strong federation, which is why we directly requested the Prime Minister to take notice of the matter," he said.

Governor Kundi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for constituting a high-level committee to resolve the CNG gas supply issue. He particularly thanked Prime Minister's Advisor Rana Sanaullah and Federal Minister Ali Pervez Malik for their proactive role in resolving the crisis. "We informed the Prime Minister about the CNG situation, and a positive decision has been taken," he noted.

The Governor also welcomed the federal government's swift action on the wheat crisis, stating that the issue is expected to be resolved within the next one or two days. "Positive progress is being made towards addressing the province's legitimate concerns. The harmony between the federation and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is commendable," he added.

Highlighting the rare political unity in the province, Governor Kundi praised the joint efforts of the provincial government and opposition parties.
