Kayani cancels London visit
Kayani had been due to meet with British Defence Secretary Liam Fox.
"My understanding is that the meeting was cancelled due to diary commitments," a defence ministry spokesman told AFP, adding that the meeting had been due to cover an "overview of defence matters."
The spokesman would not say when Britain received notice that the meeting had been cancelled.
US officials last week accused Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) of involvement in the September 13 attack on its embassy in Kabul and a September 11 attack on a NATO base in central Afghanistan.
Kayani, a former ISI chief, on Friday said the US accusations that the agency was supporting the al Qaeda-linked Haqqani network were "very unfortunate and not based on facts".
Kayani called his top generals for an extraordinary meeting at the weekend.

Pakistan is no Iraq or Afghanistan. The Army will fight man to man and alter the game in the region. If America thinks Pak Army a Republican Guard or Rag Tag Taliban Militia, they are mistaken.
TTP has been hitting targets in Pakistan at will, including Army HQ and PNS Mehran. TTP at best has 5000 fighters, no tanks, armoured vehicles or air support. US presence in Afghanistan has about 100000 fighters,tanks,armoured vehicles and air support.
You draw your own conclusions.

It is important to ask U.S.A what are their goals in Afghanistan .What was their goal when they attacked Afghanistan ?. Has it been achieved. If yes then why they are still occupying Afghanistan after so many years. If not then they should spell it out clearly. Did the United Nations gave them a mandate to occupy Afghanistan for an indefinite period of times. Can the world continue to support their indefinite occupation of a country. Al- Qaida has already been wiped out. Why not pull out of Afghanistan and enter into negotiations with Talibans if they assure the world of not having any aggressive intentions towards any body and opposition to any alqaida activities in Afghanistan
I am little confused to come across it! To appreciate the move or to understand the depth of the reason that why he has cancelled his meeting.
Politics is not a riddle, but confidential moves of Army are very riddle-ous.

@khalis: You are absolutely right and I don't disagree. But aren't you witness to the mayhem in the region. How many Pakistani's have died after 9/11. Pakistan is already in stone age. We have lost everything in this war even our dignity, self respect and pride. What America has lost: Nothing. Its Obama ( the change guy) election ploy to make Pakistan a scape goat. I know in the initial phases of war they are going to push Pakistan to limits but let me assure you that won't be the end but the beginning of disaster. They may be having trillions of dollars but to no avail ( read famous historian Brian Cougly's advice to Leon Penatta). Afghanistan is a classic example. Hope you have a soft corner for Pakistan.
Good for Kayani. We need to point out the hypocrisy of the West that created and funded these groups to defeat the Soviets and left us to deal with it. I am proud to see that the Pakistani nation is one in not allowing the nation to be made a scapegoat for Western failuresin Afghanistan. The blame Pakistan game must stop! It helps no one except the enemies of Pakistan.

Iraqi air force downfall began after gulf war in 1990 and collapsed in 2003 after US invasion it was not destroyed overnight, Pakistan armed forces cannot be defeated in days, it will takes lots of time and has lots of implications, according to US, Pak Afghan border is home of terrorists, so hopefully they wont make us so weak to control terrorists and let them spread in world, we know that there are thousands of them equipped with latest technology and hundreds and thousands more will join their ranks from every nook and corner of world if US attacks Pakistan. Remember a terrorists can be killed and restricted to particular area, but terrorist ideology cannot be restricted to particular geography, the attack on Pakistan will promote this ideology and US will increase hatred in world.
UK is bound to arrest supporters of terrorists at sight.

dear maulana diesel and other pakistani dost, sure pakistan is not iraq or any other banana state but you should remember that it took only 1.5 weeks for USAF to destroy on ground 5th largest airforce of the world the iraqi airforce. i hope instead of lipservice you actually do something on ground to protect your country. moreover you need to realize that the planes and pilots and bombs which usa had 3 years back when they threatened pakistan to bomb to stone age...they still own them and still have fuel to fly it to pakistan.
usa economy grew by 1% this year which means they added 170 billion or pakistan into itself. few hundred thousand americans out of job are no restrictions for usa to carry on its hegemony in world.
According to credible information Haqqanies are now operating from Afghanistan. American allegations are false and shameful because these are aimed at bullying the most sincere ally which has been offering tremendous sacrifices for the last ten years for the American cause. If this was the reward for those sacrifices then hell with America's war on terror. Current hype of Anti Americanism must be maintained and those black sheep who have special love for theAmericans due to their contacts with CIA must be exposed. Allah Taala has given an opportunity to this nation to quit the US initiated, so called war on terror. We should condemn terrorism but should not be a party to any side in this conflict. I have no doubt that at this critical stage of our history when we have serious crisis of leadership in the country, the Army will lead the nation from the front and come up to the expectations of their fellow country men.

I doubt the US is interested in invading Pakistan. But eventually, it will move to isolate Pakistan with sanctions, possibly through the UN.
