Benedict Cumberbatch, masked cyclist trade barbs in London road rage incident

The row began after Cumberbatch allegedly rode his cargo bike through a red light in the cycle lane

Benedict Cumberbatch was involved in a heated street argument with another cyclist near King’s Cross Station in London, according to footage and eyewitness accounts reported by The Sun.

The incident reportedly took place at around 5.30pm on Tuesday on Pancras Road near St Pancras International. Video footage showed the Sherlock and Doctor Strange actor in a tense exchange with a masked cyclist while bystanders watched the confrontation unfold.

An eyewitness claimed the argument began after Cumberbatch allegedly rode his cargo bike through a red light in the cycle lane, with another cyclist following behind him.

According to the witness, the second cyclist told the actor, “I knew you were going to do that.”

The footage later showed the masked rider accusing Cumberbatch of breaking traffic rules, shouting, “You’re deluded. You’re lying. I was behind you the entire time.”

Cumberbatch responded, “Dude, you verbally abused me.”

The cyclist then replied sarcastically, “Oh no, I verbally abused the guy who completely repeatedly broke the law,” before accusing the actor of crossing multiple lights and riding through a zebra crossing.

Cumberbatch admitted, “I did it once,” but denied the additional accusations, responding, “No, I did not.”

According to the eyewitness, the altercation lasted around 10 minutes and briefly blocked part of the road as the pair continued arguing in front of stunned pedestrians and passing commuters.

The witness described the exchange as “such a pompous road rage it almost felt like it had been staged”.

They added, “Benedict still managed to charm everyone watching even though he was having a meltdown.”

The onlooker also claimed several schoolchildren recognised the actor during the incident and asked him for photographs afterwards.

Following the exchange, the masked cyclist reportedly left the scene, while Cumberbatch stayed briefly and posed for selfies with fans nearby.

Neither Cumberbatch nor his representatives have publicly commented on the incident.
