PM Shehbaz, Qatari counterpart discuss regional situation, reaffirm support for peace efforts

Qatar expresses support for Pakistan's mediation efforts aimed at ending US-Iran crisis through peaceful means

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday held a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, during which the two leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and reaffirmed support for peace efforts in the region.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the two leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing peace efforts and underscored the importance of constructive engagement by all parties to ensure their success.

“The prime minister expressed Pakistan’s sincere appreciation for Qatar’s continued and steadfast support for Pakistan’s peace initiatives, reaffirming the depth of the brotherly bonds between the two countries,” the statement said.

The statement added that PM Shehbaz conveyed his warm regards to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and said he was looking forward to the Emir’s upcoming visit to Pakistan.

According to the PMO, the prime minister said the visit would help further strengthen and expand the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Qatar.
