Transparency, accountability and reforms essential for sustainable economic growth: DPM Dar

Says govt committed to reforms aimed at promoting efficiency, sustainable development and shared prosperity

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stressed that transparency, accountability, reforms and strong financial governance are essential for sustainable economic growth while addressing the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Conference in Lahore on Saturday.

According to a post on X, DPM Dar "congratulated ICMA Pakistan on completing 75 years of service in advancing the accounting and finance profession and contributing to institutional development in the country".

In his address, he said transparency, accountability and robust financial governance were critical for investor confidence, economic resilience and sustainable development.

 

DPM Dar also highlighted the impact of "digital technologies on the accounting profession and stressed the need for adaptation to evolving global trends".

The deputy prime minister said Pakistan possessed "immense economic potential" and noted that "strategic reforms, regional connectivity, fiscal discipline and institutional strengthening were positioning the country as a strong and sustainable economy".

DPM Dar further highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace, stability, dialogue and economic cooperation.

He also underscored the importance of regional collaboration through SAFA, youth empowerment and the government’s commitment to reforms aimed at promoting efficiency, accountability, sustainable development and shared prosperity.
