Jaafar Jackson pays tribute to Michael Jackson during Met Gala 2026 debut
The appearance followed the release of 'Michael', the biopic in which Jaafar portrays his late uncle

Jaafar Jackson made his Met Gala debut in 2026 with a look that paid tribute to his late uncle, Michael Jackson, following the recent success of his biopic.
The actor’s appearance combined personal significance with classic styling.
Arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Jaafar wore a black velvet Ralph Lauren suit featuring gold detailing.
The outfit was paired with a bow tie, red socks and black ballet-style shoes, creating a vintage-inspired silhouette that reflected elements associated with Michael Jackson’s stage presence.
Speaking during the Vogue livestream, Jaafar said the ensemble remained “in the world” of Michael Jackson’s style, emphasising its timeless quality and personal meaning. He also confirmed that the look had received approval from his fiancée, adding a further personal dimension to the outfit.
The appearance followed the release of Michael, the biographical film in which Jaafar portrays his uncle.
The film, which explores key moments from Michael Jackson’s life between the late 1960s and late 1980s, has recorded strong box office performance. It also features recreated versions of iconic looks from "Thriller", "Beat It" and notable stage performances.
The 2026 Met Gala was held under the theme "Costume Art", focusing on the relationship between fashion and the human body, including ideas of identity, transformation and expression. The event was co-chaired by figures including Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams.
Jaafar Jackson’s debut marked a significant moment in his career, linking his emerging presence in film with a tribute to a lasting cultural legacy on one of fashion’s most prominent stages.
