Robbery bid goes viral

KARACHI:

A robbery attempt in Gulshan-e-Hadeed Phase II turned chaotic after armed suspects opened fire and residents retaliated with stone-pelting, a video of the incident that went viral on social media showed on Sunday.

The incident took place within the limits of Steel Town Police Station near Allah Wali Chowrangi on Double Road around 3:30pm. The footage shows two bikers attempting to rob a citizen when nearby people at a car wash began throwing stones at them. Police said the suspects responded by firing shots before fleeing the scene.

SSP Malir confirmed the incident and said police reached the site after the video surfaced, collecting evidence from the location. However, no formal complaint had been registered with police so far.

Following the viral footage, AIG took notice of the incident and directed the SSP Malir to submit a detailed report.
