BUREWALA:

A local court handed down death sentence to a man and acquitted three co-accused giving them the benefit of doubt while deciding a murder case here Wednesday.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafarullah Niazi pronounced the verdict in the two-year-old murder case in village 158/EB, finding the main accused, Riaz alias Booti, guilty of killing Ghulam Fareed Wahga, and awarded capital punishment to him.

The convict was also directed to pay Rs500,000 as compensation to the heirs of the deceased.

According to Advocate Mirza Zahid Mahmood who represented the prosecution, the accused Riaz alias Booti, Riaz Kharal, Ghulam Fareed and Ashraf had allegedly shot dead the victim over an old enmity.
